Another Round
This my 5th solo exhibition takes the form in which various works gather together and constitute one huge work in its entirety.
What I would like express in this work is the story about ‘subjective process’ which occurs inside of a human being, that remains as a result of ‘memory’ after real events.
This work starts from my thinking that ‘real existence’ is a combination made by each possibility chosen by me at one moment, and ‘memory’ is a result recomposed through my very subjective, personal, and internal process after real events which actually occurred.
We repeat meeting and separation at every fleeting moment.
Things that stay but will disappear in a moment and things which would stay again in just a second.
The real moment when things repeat the process of staying and disappearing
Each person creates new circumstances at simultaneous moments
Inner side of each person goes through rounds of qualitative changes in which subjective creation and extinction repeat.
That is the reason even those who experience the same situation at the same moment have their own memory which is somewhat different from the actual fact over the passage of time after very private experiences and emotions interfere in a complicated manner.
The moment the audience step into the space where the work is installed
They come into the process of other inner rounds in this very meaning.
The audience who stand in a big room where inner rounds occur also directly function as a piece of memory which would stay temporarily at the moment and disappear in a moment in the work.
Through this, the principal agent ‘I’ go through the experience of being used as a material in the process going toward someone’s memory, not as the principal agent as a creator who extinguish and regenerate memories.
However, this experience is also a mere actual situation of a material before being left as each person’s memory to the audience, and rounds keep going without stopping as numerous each thing is connected.
In what memory do I live or dissipate?
And what moments do I extinguish or regenerate to make them into memory?

Another Round (또 다른 순환)
이번 나의 다섯번째 개인전은 다양한 형태의 작품들이 모여서 전체적으로 하나의 커다란 작품을 이루는 형식을 띠게 된다.
이 작품을 통해 내가 표현하고자 하는 것은 실재적 사건 이후에 ‘기억’이라는 결과로 남게 되는, 인간의 내면 안에서 일어나는 ‘주관적 과정’에 관한 이야기이다.
이 작품은, ‘실재’는 한 순간 나에 의해 선택된 각각의 가능성이 만들어낸 조합들이며, ‘기억’이란 것은, 실제로 일어났던 사실적 사건 이후에 매우 주관적이고도 개인적인 내적 과정을 통해 재구성된 결과물이라는 나의 생각에서부터 출발한다.
우리는 매 찰나의 순간 만나고 헤어짐을 반복한다.
잠시후면 사라져버릴 머무르고 있는 것들, 그리고 잠시후면 또 다시 만나 머무르게 될 것들.
머무르는 것들과 사라지는 것들이 반복되는 실재의 순간
사람들 각자는 동시적 순간에 새로운 상황을 만들어내며
각자의 내면에서는 주관적 생성과 소멸이 반복되는 질적 변화의 순환을 거친다.
동일한 순간에 같은 상황을 겪은 사람들일지라도, 이미 완료된 상황에 지극히 개인적인 경험이나 감정 등이 복합적으로 개입된 후 시간의 흐름에 따라 실제의 사실과는 조금 다른 각자의 기억을 갖게 되는 이유이기도 하다.
관객들은 작품이 설치되어 있는 공간에 발을 딛는 순간,
바로 이러한 의미에서의 또 다른 내적 순환의 과정 속으로 들어오게 된다.
내적 순환이 이루어지고 있는 커다란 방안에 서있는 관객들 또한,
바로 그 순간에는 잠시 머물렀다 이내 사라질 기억의 파편으로서 작품안에서 직접적으로 기능하게 된다.
이를 통해 ‘나’라는 주체가 기억을 소멸하고 재생성시키는 창조자로서의 주체가 아닌, 단지 누군가의 기억으로 가는 과정안의 하나의 재료로서 쓰여지는 경험을 하게 된다.
하지만 결국 이러한 경험 또한 관객에게 각자의 기억으로 남겨지기 전의 하나의 재료인 실제의 상황에 불과하게 되며, 무수한 각각이 연결되어 순환은 멈추지 않고 계속되게 된다.
나는 어떠한 기억 안에서 살아있거나 소멸되어 있을까?
또 나는 어떠한 순간들을 소멸시키거나 재구성하여 기억으로 남아있게 만들었을까?
