Boundary
Even though it is not visible, we could be people in the boundary or people who make the boundary.
To human beings who cannot avoid social life, each space, time, and experience have meanings in the range of the social frame.
Without knowing for whom, by whom, and for what the frame is formed and maintained, numerous types of boundaries are automatically accumulated through life, and they are internalized in individuals through selection and concentration.
Within diverse frames with double roles in controlling others and oneself, humans work hard to become a perfect being suitable for the special frame defined by themselves without getting out of the social boundary, and this social & individual action is still present progressive.
Lots of invisible boundaries endlessly created by every human being of society are piled up widely or deeply, highly or lightly in the overall society and inside of individuals.
Diverse boundaries staying for a long time, forgotten, or newly moving forward with changing times aim to standardize humans’ thinking, action, and even values considered as precious.
However, each frame more segmentalized and modified into stronger form by ideal desire of each individual, ironically builds up a limited boundary limiting the possibility of others and themselves, so that they are locked up inside of it.
Considering that there could be a social frame under the tacit agreement of each individual, even though we did not intend to do so, we have worked as main subjects to create the frame.
Nevertheless, people do not see the fame composing numerous boundaries, and do not even realize that their thinking and action are contributing to a series of the process to maintain the limit.
Today, here, the spectators in the limited gallery space could become subjects defining the frame, or objects locked up in the frame.
Which roles are we playing in every moment between the internal boundary unknowingly held in, the boundary defined with others, and new boundary we are creating right in this moment?

경계
보이지 않음에도 우리는
경계 안에 있는 사람이기도, 그 경계를 만들고 있는 사람이기도 하다.
사회적 삶을 외면할 수 없는 인간에게
각각의 공간, 시간, 경험들은
그 사회가 가지고 있는 틀의 범위 안에서 의미를 갖는다.
누구를 위해, 누구에 의해 형성되었는지
왜 그러한 틀이 유지되고 있는지 알지 못한 채
수 많은 종류의 경계들은 삶을 통해 자동적으로 축적되며
선택과 집중을 통해 개인에게 내재화된다.
타인을 통제하는 기준인 동시에
자신도 역시 통제 당하게 되는 이중적 역할의 다양한 틀 속에서,
인간은 사회적 경계를 벗어나지 않으면서도 자신이 규정한 특별한 틀에 맞는 완벽한 존재가 되기 위해 그들의 노력을 아끼지 않으며,
이러한 사회적, 개인적 작용은 여전히 현재 진행형이다.
사회 속 모든 인간들이 매 순간 만들어내기를 멈추지 않는 수 많은 보이지 않는 경계들은, 개인의 내면과 사회 전반에 넓거나 깊게, 높거나 얕게 서로 겹치며 쌓이게 된다.
변화하는 시간과 함께 오래도록 머무르거나 잊쳐지거나 혹은 새로이 나아가게 될 다양한 경계들은, 인간의 생각과 행동 뿐만 아니라 그들이 소중하다고 여기는 것들에 대한 가치에도 규격화를 시도한다.
그러나 각 개인들의 이상적 욕구에 의해 더욱 더 세분화되고 강력한 형태로 변태된 각각의 틀은 아이러니하게도, 자신과 타인의 가능성을 한계짓는 제한된 경계를 만들어내어 스스로 그 안에 갇히게 한다.
사회적 틀이라는 것이, 그것에 대한 각 개인들의 암묵적 동의가 있어야만 존재할 수 있다는 점을 고려해본다면, 비록 우리가 의도하지 않았다 하더라도
우리는 지금껏 그 틀을 만들어내는 주체로서의 역할을 스스로 해낸 셈이 된다.
그럼에도 정작 사람들은 수 많은 경계를 이루는 틀을 보지 못하거니와
그 한계를 유지하는 일련의 과정에 자신의 생각과 행동이 일조하고 있다는 사실도 깨닫지 못하고 있다.
오늘 여기, 한정된 갤러리 공간 안에서 관람객은 스스로의 틀을 규정하는 주체가 될 수도, 틀 안에 갇힌 객체가 되어 볼 수도 있다.
무엇이 경계인지도 알아차리지 못한 채 품고 있는 내면의 경계,
우리가 함께 규정한 경계,
그리고 지금 이 순간에도 내가 만들어내고 있는 새로운 경계 사이에서
우리는 매 순간 어떤 역할을 하고 있는 것일까?
